Monica Curca is a communications strategist and social entrepreneur leveraging new media and digital technology for social change. She is the founder of PAX Manifesto and Transmedia for Good: SoCal group. Monica works as a strategic communications and media consultant for international peacebuilding and development agencies. She has extensive on the ground experience in transmedia campaign strategy and management and training/ building capacity in civic engagement, media, communications, and leveraging social media for social change. She writes for various outlets about on these topics at osocio.org, peaceforsale.org, www.insightonconflict.org and has published in The Peace Journalist Magazine, UN Global Education Magazine among others.

She currently is working on various storytelling projects including “The Real Housewives of Syria” documentary and transmedia project. For the past year she has been the Communications and Development Manager for OCCCO, working on the cusp of civic engagement, policy and community organizing. She leads digital campaigns for immigration reform, civic engagement, racial justice and community development. She has presented at Information Communications and Technology for International Development Conference, PeaceBuild Technology for peace conference, and Peace Day Conferences. Some of the organizations she has worked with are: United Methodist Charity on Relief, PICO National The Center for Citizen Peacebuilding at University of California Irvine, UMCOMM, Center for Civil Society and Democracy in Syria. In addition to having over 15 years of strategic communications experience, Monica holds two Masters Degrees from the Heller School for Social Policy in Management at Brandeis University, in Sustainable International Development and Conflict and Coexistence.
